For the UEFA Champions League 2019/20 competition, BT Sport needed a toolkit to build promos, that was customizable to adapt to different teams/matches as the tournament progressed.
We created a pinball table in 3d, with 1980s-style graphics that leveraged the UCL colour palette, and illustrations of key players. Frenetic, fast-paced animation captured the excitement and unpredictability of the Champions League.
Half the shots were toolkit shots, which enabled the clients' in-house team to swap in new illustrations relevant to the teams featured in the promo. As part of the toolkit, the illustrations themselves were generatable from stock player photos with a semi-automated process in Photoshop.

The project delivered beyond expectations and our client was delighted, commissioning extra shots to use as backdrops for filming in studio and a second set specific to the knockout/finals stage of the competition.
The project also received two Promax nominations for Best Sports Originated and Best Use of Animation/Graphic Design.
